She then refused to testify for some mystical reason. In the process of responding one of your colleagues also grabbed the woman of colour who'd called you fuckers in the first place and shoved her up against a wall for no reason as soon as he saw. Arrested the guy who'd been beating me on the side of the head (incident was caught on CCTV). You literally turned up after I got seven shades of shit kicked out of me. All he had to do was look out his lounge window and check on it, but no. The guy in the house said “wait this bike?!” Pointing to his own bike elsewhere. If everyone did their part, safely, it wouldn't happen.ĮDIT: I’d also like to add that after the failed Victoria park attempt I knocked on a house and asked them to keep an eye on the bike as the bolt cutter guys said they would come back for it later. Just let them know they've been seen, keep your distance and film them. The other time I saw them with bolt cutters in Victoria Park and I simply asked them if it was theirs, they said "I lost my keys" so I said "You won't mind if I take a photo of you then" and I filmed them run away. Granted I was pretty drunk so was feeling confident but I just shouted and ran at them and they quickly gave up and drove off. One time was in broad daylight at Broadway Market, everyone was eating out in the sunshine and did absolutely nothing to stop two guys pull up on a moped and try yank a bike away from its lock. I've stopped a few London bike thefts now. Downside of challenging people like this is I know that somewhere in my monkey brain, I'm probably prejudging people based on appearances, really it would be better if you could just trust that the police would deal with it properly if something did happen. So that makes my awareness of the fact that anyone can get in the building a little heightened I suppose.

Plus I occasionally get a knock on my front door from baliffs, chasing the debts of someone who supposedly lived here previously, who obviously don't ring the front door. I do tend to challenge people trying to follow me into my building that I don't recognise, ask them what number they're going to, if they've forgot their keys etc, as I know it would be simple to break into a flat once you're in the building. Though to be fair the recovery rate of cars that have been stolen is also fairly miserable. You do hear about the occaisional massive bust, with hundreds of bikes being found in a garage somewhere, but otherwise I don't think they throw nearly enough resources at this. Any thieves going to this level of trouble, it would definitely require actual investigative effort from the police to stop them doing it again. I imagine the plates on the van were cloned or the van itself was stolen, so that would probably be a dead end.
